From the intimate tablaos of Granada to the grand arches of the Plaza de España in Seville: flamenco has long set hearts ablaze on the most beautiful stages of Andalusia. Now, “We Call It Flamenco” celebrates that same fiery spirit in Amsterdam, with two dancers, a singer, and a guitarist bringing the rhythm, passion, and soul.
On select dates in the coming months, the OBA Theater will host this magnificent flamenco show. This architectural gem will be adorned with hundreds of roses to bring the atmosphere of flower-filled Andalusian towns to Amsterdam this season. Tickets are now on sale, but space is limited, so be sure to get your tickets today!

What is ‘We Call It Flamenco’?
It is a tribute to an art form that has flourished in intimate spaces for hundreds of years. The show is an ode to the fusion of cultures that together form flamenco. While two flamenco bailaores (dancers) stomp and spin, a tacaor (guitarist ) and a cantaor (singer ) perform classic flamenco songs across four acts. And to honor tradition, the performers are dressed in authentic mantones (embroidered shawls)and trajes de flamenca (traditional dresses).
Flamenco,the palosof the show
There are approximately 50 variations of flamenco, also known as palos, and six of them will be performed that evening at “We Call It Flamenco.” Each expresses a range of emotions: cantiñas, soleá, bulería, and more palos will shine in a 15th-century church known for its rich history and excellent acoustics.
Inspired by traditional performances in cities such as Seville, Jerez de la Frontera, Granada, and Córdoba, this show immerses the audience in the magic of flamenco. Each palo adds its own charm to the evening, leaving the audience feeling nothing but duende —an indescribable emotion that only flamenco can evoke.
