Emotion envelops the evening as two bodies portray a story of longing, love, and loss powerful enough to move even the most stoic soul.

What is “We Call It Tango”?
It certainly takes “two to tango,” but the rich cultural heritage of this passionate embrace owes its origins to many cultures. About 150 years ago, this art form emerged in Uruguay and the Rio de la Plata Valley in Argentina, as a blend of African rhythms, European dances, and traditional South American music.
It combines the Argentine milonga, the Spanish-Cuban habanera, and the Uruguayan candombe, drawing on the emotional intensity of each of these dances. Agustina Videla and Pablo Destito, hailing from Buenos Aires, conceived, directed, and choreographed this spectacular show.
Tango, the music, and the show
Tango has been on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage since 2009, and “We Call It Tango” is a compelling celebration that tells a captivating story. Join us on a journey to South America as the love affair of the main character, Amelia, with music, dance, and a forbidden man unfolds across three acts featuring thirteen different tangos. Listen to classics like Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango” and “Adiós Nonino” as this extraordinary drama takes the stage with graceful footwork.
