Perfect for a nice stroll.
Now that the non-culinary sections of our markets are reopening, there’s plenty to discover at Amsterdam’s fantastic markets. Whether you’re looking for something tasty or something to wear, there’s always a market that sells it. Plus, markets are great places to spend the day and find fascinating items you didn’t even know you were looking for. [Featured photo: Unsplash]
1. Albert Cuyp Market
📍Albert Cuypstraat, 1073BD
As Europe’s largest daily market, this one couldn’t be left off our list. With 260 stalls, ranging from delicious food stalls to trinkets, there’s plenty to discover and many friendly vendors to chat with, who are happy to share their knowledge about the products with you.
2. Noordermarkt
📍Noordermarkt 42B, 1015 NA
If you’re a foodie, the Noordermarkt is the place to be. There are plenty of great stalls with fresh, organic fruits and vegetables, alongside countless other stalls selling just about everything from clothing and books to dog toys.
3. Waterlooplein
📍Waterlooplein 2, 1011 NZ
Waterlooplein is Amsterdam’s oldest flea market and definitely worth a visit. You can buy (more or less) anything here, but we love it for the vinyl records, vintage clothing, and books, of which there is a fantastic selection.
4. Flower Market

📍Singel, 1012 DH
The Flower Market is the only floating flower market in the world, and it’s definitely the best place to buy a beautiful bouquet of flowers. Whether you’re looking for Amsterdam’s world-famous tulips or gorgeous roses, you’ll find it all here.
5. Artplein-Spui
📍Spui Square, 1012 WZ
Here you can—you guessed it—buy art! From handmade jewelry to watercolor landscapes and sculptures: you’ll find it all at this charming market. It’s a great place to browse, because everything is so fascinating and beautiful.
6.IJ Hallen Flea Market
📍T.T. Neveritaweg 1, 1033 WB
This place is an absolute goldmine for vintage clothing, vintage furniture, and—well—pretty much anything vintage. It’s the largest flea market in Europe, and admission costs €5.00 per person, but once inside, you can save quite a bit of money. Plus, the ferry to the market from the back of Central Station is completely free, so it’s easy to get to.
7. Book Market on Spui
📍Spui, 1012 WX
Book lovers will love this place. There are plenty of rare and hard-to-find books for sale here, in all sorts of different languages, and the vendors definitely know their stuff. So if you’re looking for something specific, this is the place to ask. It’s open every Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
8. Fabric Market
📍Westerstraat, 1015 LZ
Head to Westerstraat on Monday morning and you’ll find the Lapjesmarkt. It’s perfect for lovers of vintage clothing, but there’s also plenty of fabric for sale, so if you love sewing or want to get creative with fabric, this place is fantastic.
