We all know that Dutch breakfasts are not exactly a fancy affair. Usually, it’s a slice of toast with hagelslag and that keeps you going until lunch. However, if you’re looking for something a bit more substantial to stuff your face with, there are plenty of incredible breakfast spots in Amsterdam.
1. Mortimer Amsterdam
📍Nieuwezijds Kolk 33, 1012 PV
Mortimer Amsterdam is super popular at breakfast time for a reason. It’s widely known as one of Amsterdam’s best breakfast spots and this narrow restaurant has a little romantic charm to it – perfect for a breakfast date.
Check out the delicious pastries for a light bite or something on the go. They’re fantastic paired with a lovely cup of coffee. The coffee at Mortimer is roasted by Dutch the company, Sprout and tastes so smooth.
If you want something more filling then you can enjoy a range of breakfast dishes, including a full English breakfast (vegetarian version available). There’s also eggs benedict and ‘Dutch eggs carbonara’, which consists of delicious Dutch eggs atop a toasted muffin, cheese foam and speck.
Mortimer is only open until 3 pm, every day, and you might have to queue for a little while until a table becomes available. However, it’s definitely worth the wait.
