Brunch is one of those lovely, lazy, weekend activities. You wake up late, stumble into a brunch spot somewhere in Amsterdam (often with a terrible hangover) and eat until you feel alive again. Sometimes some of us also care to indulge in a little ‘hair of the dog’, i.e. drinking fizzy wine to delay the effects of having drunk the night before.
Of course, this isn’t true for everyone and at the moment it’s pretty difficult to stay out late in Amsterdam as everything has to close early. Although in the Netherlands people tend to eat evening meals pretty early compared to Southern European counterparts, going out for an evening meal is undeniably more difficult when everything has to close by 8 pm. So, it seems that if you want to socialise nowadays you have to go out for breakfast or lunch, or alternatively, you could mix the two together and grab yourself some delicious brunch!
At Ted’s, you can eat brunch all day. They never stop serving comforting brunch foods like eggs florentine and breakfast burritos. From huge, carb-loaded stacked sandwiches that will leave you feeling full until the next day to deliciously spicy chicken katsu, the menu abounds with savoury delights.
However, if you find yourself craving sweet things at brunch time you’re going to love this place even more because the pancakes are definitely worth a cavity or two. The Oreo banana pancakes are irresistable. Lovely, fluffy pancakes come topped with banana slices, Oreo crumble and a good drizzle of Nutella. If you’re not salivating already then check out the next option: pancakes with banana slices, peanut butter, Reese’s peanut butter cups and a healthy drizzle of Nutella.
You can wash it all down with a tasty tea or coffee, or indulge in some day-drinking with some bubbles, a bloody mary, strawberry bellini or a number of other cocktails from the extensive menu. You’ll find Ted’s at Bosboom Toussaintstraat 60, 1054 AV, and if you’d like to book a table then you can do so on the website.
