Anyone walking down Linnaeusstraat on a Sunday afternoon can already feel the Caribbean warmth radiating out. Right next to Oosterpark, Orchid House opens its doors every week for free salsa and bachata. With Latin @ Orchid House, dance school Extremos brings to life a rare, accessible dance afternoon where you can walk in without a partner, registration, or admission ticket to join in the fun.
No partner or experience? Everyone dances together

The biggest hurdle at a dance party is often figuring out who wants to go. At Latin @ Orchid House, that doesn’t matter at all. From the very first minute, DJ Ivanito spins an accessible mix of salsa and bachata that naturally fills the dance floor. Here, people switch partners constantly after every song.
As a result, newcomers can jump right in just as easily as seasoned salsa enthusiasts. This initiative by the Extremos dance school is organized as an open dance afternoon. You don’t need to know any set choreography to join in. Anyone who simply joins in and lets the music guide them will have danced with half the room by the end of the afternoon.

The weekly dance party takes place at Orchid House at Linnaeusstraat 2C, right on the edge of Oosterpark. Doors open every Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m., and the party on the wooden dance floor wraps up at 7:00 p.m. That means you’ll be home well in time for dinner afterward.
You don’t need to reserve tickets in advance or fill out a form. Admission is completely free, and there’s no one at the door checking a guest list. You can walk in whenever you like and simply pay for your own drinks at the bar.
