Utrecht Has Built The World’s Longest Rainbow Path And We’re Seriously Envious

We need one of these in Amsterdam!

In honour of Pride Month, Utrecht Science Park has unveiled an incredible and impressive rainbow cycle path, and we’re jealous. It measures 570 metres, end to end, making it the longest rainbow path in the world.

The project has been funded by Utrecht University, Utrecht University of Applied Science and UMC Utrecht, and it stands as a statement of solidarity with LGBTQ+ communities across the world. It was the brilliant idea of 22 year old Elias van Mourik.

Speaking about the path, Elena Valbusa, Diversity Officer for Utrecht University of Applied Science said: ‘We want to show that everyone can be themselves and is welcome in the Utrecht Science Park.’ She added that the three universities involved in the project would also launch a ‘substantive programme on diversity and inclusion’.

We still have another month at least left until Amsterdam Pride, which is going to be incredible. This year will mark the 25th year of Amsterdam Pride and run from July 31 to August 8. To read more about this year’s Pride, you can visit the website.
