With free festivals, Candlelight Concerts and plenty of immersive exhibitions to experience, there’s plenty on offer. Don’t miss these amazing events, some of which happen only once a year!
1. Amsterdam Open Air
Amsterdam Open Air Festival will take place on June 7 & 8 this year at Gaasperpark. This popular festival of Amsterdam nightlife celebrates music for 2 days, with a program that covers the entire breadth of Dutch dance. Performers will bring Amsterdam a big dose of music ! There will be ten stages at the festival and genres such as house, techno, pop, Latin, Afro and urban are fully represented. Don’t miss it !

2. Rent a Boat for a Canal Tour
Amsterdam is beautiful as seen from its many amazing canals. You don’t need a license for a boat hire either! Some of these boats come with captains so you can sit back and relax, and in others, you can try your hand at controlling the boat yourself. Could you imagine something nicer to do on a spring afternoon?
3. Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA
Experience a magical evening of live music illuminated by candlelight at the stunning Koninklijk Theater Tuschinski in Amsterdam. This June, enjoy a unique tribute to two legendary pop icons with Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA, performed by the Lucerna Quartet. The 60-minute concert features iconic hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Dancing Queen,” and “We Will Rock You” in an intimate, atmospheric setting. The date is on June 19.

4. Take a day trip to a pretty village near Amsterdam
With the promise of warmer weather on the way, we’re looking forward to exploring the Netherlands. And if you’re after a short day trip then you’re in luck! There are plenty of pretty villages near Amsterdam where you can catch some sea air or sample some delicious Dutch culture (cheese).
5. Bacchus Wine Festival
Amsterdamse Bos is a beautiful place to visit at any time of year but over two weekends in June, you’ll hear raucous laughter from within the trees as the Bacchus Wine Festival comes to town. There will be wine tasting (of course), with bottles brought from across the world. Plus, plenty of catering vans on hand to fill any hungry stomachs, DJs, and live music. You don’t have to be a connoisseur to enjoy the event because there will be plenty of experts around to help you understand the wines. Tickets are around€20 and the festival will run from June 6 to 8 and 13 to 15.

6. Don’t Miss The Exhbition From Rembrandt to Vermeer, masterpieces from the Leiden Collection
At H’ART Museum, From Rembrandt to Vermeer: Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection offers a rare and intimate look at 17th-century Dutch life through 75 exceptional works. It features celebrated artists like Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, and Jan Steen… And the exhibition includes the only privately owned Vermeer painting, specially conserved for the occasion. Presented in honor of Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, it captures everyday scenes, portraits, and moments both grand and humble. Also, there is a special focus on the women depicted, including a rare work by Maria Schalcken.

7. Red Light Jazz Festival Brings Soulful Sounds to Amsterdam’s Historic Heart
From June 6 to 8, the Red Light Jazz Festival returns for its 12th edition, filling Amsterdam’s historic Red Light District with the sounds of live jazz. This beloved event blends traditional and contemporary jazz in intimate venues—like cozy cafés, shops, and unexpected open-air spots—celebrating both the genre’s roots and the rich cultural history of the neighborhood. With performances by artists such as Matt Bianco, Hans Dulfer, and the Amsterdam Funk Orchestra, it’s a vibrant weekend that draws locals and visitors alike.

8. Exploring Tomorrow: ToekomstTiendaagse Imagines the Future of Amsterdam
From June 12 to 21, the ToekomstTiendaagse (Future Ten Days) invites Amsterdammers to explore what the city of tomorrow might look like. Through exhibitions, conferences, open days, and innovation showcases across the metropolitan region, the event tackles questions about how we’ll eat, live, travel, and design our shared spaces. The ten-day celebration of ideas and imagination will culminate in the festive Midsummer Festival on the Ring.

9. Festival on the Ring A10: Amsterdam’s 750th Birthday Bash
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Amsterdam will transform its A10 ring road into a 15-kilometer car-free festival zone to celebrate the city’s 750th anniversary. From 12:00 to 23:00, the highway will host a vibrant array of music, dance, theater, sports, and even weddings, kicking off with a special “Run on the Ring” event. Highlights include the planting of an “Anniversary Forest” with 750 large trees. And then, an afterparty featuring over 20 nightclubs and bars across the city. This free, inclusive event invites everyone to come together and celebrate Amsterdam’s rich history and bright future.
