Spring has come early this year!
The weather has well and truly done a U-turn this week, with Amsterdammers leaving their homes and finding that the streets are no longer covered in ice. People have been making the most of this Spring weather, taking responsibly distanced walks and taking in the rays of sunlight we’ve not seen in so long.
However, this week is set to be even warmer, with temperatures rising to 20°C celcius in some parts of the Netherlands. This is a stark contrast to the freezing temperatures that we endured just days ago but we’re sure most people are more than happy to shed their winter coats.
In fact, in some parts of the Netherlands last week was record-breakingly hot compared to the usual temperatures this time of year. De Telegraaf reports that ‘the temperature in De Bilt rose to 14.9 degrees, making it officially the warmest February 21 ever recorded.’ We’re looking forward to seeing the flowers bloom in this weather, and we’re hoping it holds out, but it looks like March could be chilly at times, with temperatures dropping to 1°C on March 29, so don’t pack your winter clothes away just yet!
