From raves to running races and everything in between: tickets for the Festival on the Ring officially go on sale today!
Partying on the asphalt: the highway rave you won’t want to miss
Forget traffic jams—on June 21, the A10 will transform into the biggest street party the Netherlands has ever seen. To celebrate Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, the city is doing something special: 15 kilometers of the iconic ring road will be transformed into a festival grounds for one day. You can look forward to all kinds of dance parties, a running race, art installations, a pop-up forest, exhibitions, and even weddings—yes, 20 happy couples will say “I do” right here on the asphalt!
The event is called Festival op de Ring, and it’s more than just symbolic. It’s an invitation for the whole city to come together—on the ring road instead of alongside it—and experience Amsterdam in a completely new way. From 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM, there’s something for everyone: 25 different activities spread across three zones: West, South, and East. Check out the full program here.
The zones: where to go and what you’ll need

The organizers have divided the A10 into three party zones, each with its own atmosphere and access rules:
South Zone: the ultimate hotspot for dance music lovers. Dutch event company Audio Obscura takes over the ring road for nine hours with a rave from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM—the asphalt becomes one giant open-air dance floor. Expect light shows, bass, and serious festival energy. Free tickets are required.
West Zone: Here you’ll find cultural and interactive experiences—think performance art, exhibitions, sports, and local delicacies. Also requires a ticket, with various programs throughout the day.
East Zone: No ticket? No problem. This is the place for you. The Run on the Ring starts here, and while it’s less music-focused, there’s still fun and family programming, plus free access to explore part of the closed highway.
Tickets are free but limited: a total of 280,000, which will be made available today, May 21, at 10:00 a.m. CEST. That’s enough for just a quarter of Amsterdam’s population, so expect a digital rush. You can book up to six tickets for the morning or four for the afternoon/evening, and you must choose in advance which exit you’ll use to reach the festival grounds. Good planning is essential!
