In Amsterdam, tulips are of course our pride and joy, but the city also boasts an abundance of breathtaking cherry blossoms. When spring arrives, the city transforms into a dreamy landscape of soft pink and white petals adorning the canals, parks, and hidden courtyards. From the famous Sakura Park in Amstelveen to unexpected pockets of blossoms in quieter neighborhoods—there’s no shortage of places to enjoy this season. Here are six of the most beautiful spots to admire the blooms this year.
1. Amsterdamse Bos
The Amsterdamse Bos is home to more than 400 cherry trees, donated by the Japanese Women’s Club in 2000. Each tree has a name, and this beautiful park is one of the best places to see the cherry blossoms.
2. Westerpark
Westerpark is ideal for a relaxing stroll, especially in the spring when the cherry blossom trees are in full bloom. The picturesque paths and open spaces make it a great place to enjoy the season. Bring a book, or just some fresh air, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere beneath the pink blossoms.
3. Museumplein
Just outside the Van Gogh Museum are several beautiful cherry trees. Van Gogh himself painted almond blossoms, so it’s only fitting that this museum has its own little patch full of blossoms. Perfect for an afternoon stroll!
4. Jozef Israelkade (De Pijp)
De Pijp is a neighborhood full of cherry blossoms, and the best place to enjoy them is along the canal at Jozef Israelkade. It’s the perfect spot to pause for a moment, admire the blossoms, and enjoy nature. Bring a book and unwind in this idyllic corner of Amsterdam.
5. Rijksmuseum Garden
The Rijksmuseum Garden is free to visit and an absolute must-see. The garden is ideal for strolling around, taking photos, or simply enjoying the beauty of this quintessentially Amsterdam spot.
6. De Hortus
Another great spot is De Hortus. Although you won’t find cherry blossoms here, you can admire beautiful white blossoms from trees that are native to Spain—a lovely and unique experience in Amsterdam!
