We’ve had a glimpse of what it might be like to live in a sunny country, having had the sunniest March ever. However, now Amsterdam’s weather is set to return to business as usual. So, if you’re planning drinks on the terrace or getting ready to fire up the barbecue then you should probably do it today because forecasters are predicting a pretty grim, yet predictable, April in Amsterdam.
This afternoon we’ll see thermometers hit 13°C in the city, but it’s downhill from there, unfortunately. Tomorrow will be slightly colder, with highs of around 12°C and then we descend into single figures of around 9°C the next day.
From Monday 4 April there will be plenty of rain for days and days until April 10 when we should see a few sunny days with highs of around 13°C. The end of March will be colder than average but it’s normal for the country to have lots of April showers, and it’s bound to be good for the tulips.
We predict that there will be plenty of Amsterdammers searching for flights this week to escape the miserable weather but it looks as though most of Europe will be experiencing a cold April with plenty of showers. Even in a city like Madrid which is usually dry and warm, there will be lots of rain and temperatures only a few degrees above Amsterdam. There’s no escape!
