Amsterdam is bursting with atmospheric wine bars and charming ice cream parlors, but you’ve never seen a place that combines both worlds so seamlessly. On Waterlooplein, you’ll find De Boule De Boule, a striking establishment best described as a“wine parlor.”
Here, you can stop in for artisanal ice cream with surprising ingredients, and then stick around for a good glass of natural wine. It’s a refreshing crossover that’s instantly shaking up Amsterdam’s local dining scene.
From hojicha stracciatella to natural wine on tap
The display case of the new salon showcases a rotating selection of homemade ice cream with bold flavor combinations. On the handwritten sign, creations such as hojicha stracciatella, saffron-orange, and pandan-shiso take center stage. For those who prefer something warm, the menu also features fresh pastries and artisanal crêpes.
What truly makes this place unique is the combination of these sweet treats with a good glass of natural wine or a sparkling bubbly. That’s how you effortlessly turn a quick ice cream stop into a leisurely afternoon drink.
Music on vinyl and Sunday jazz

Adorning the salon’s wooden walls is a carefully curated collection of soul and funk records that fill the space with a warm, analog sound. Owner Kirsty deliberately puts music front and center: in addition to resident DJs, a large silver disco ball hangs in the middle of the space. Every Sunday, the place transforms into a stage for intimate live jazz sessions.
Amid the green velvet vintage sofas and cozy candles, you can easily slip into a spot to lounge, play a game, or simply listen to records.
