From the intimate tablaos of Granada to the grand arches of Seville’s Plaza de España, flamenco has long ignited hearts across Andalusia’s most beautiful stages. Now, ‘We call it Flamenco’ in Amsterdam celebrates that same fiery spirit, where two dancers, a singer and a guitarist bring the rhythm, passion and soul.
On selected dates over the coming months, OBA Theater will be hosting this magnificent flamenco show. This architectural gem will be adorned with hundreds of roses to bring the spirit of flowery Andalusian towns to Amsterdam this season. Tickets are on sale now but spaces are limited, so make sure you get yours today!

What is ‘We Call It Flamenco?’
It’s an homage to an art form that’s thrived in intimate spaces for hundreds of years. The show pays tribute to the fusion of cultures that, when combined, make up flamenco. As two flamenco bailaores (dancers) stomp and twirl, a tacaor (guitarist) and cantaor (singer) perform classic flamenco songs over the course of four acts. And to uphold tradition, performers will be dressed in authentic mantones (embroidered shawls) and trajes de flamenca (a traditional dress).
Flamenco, its palos and the show
There are around 50 variants of flamenco known as palos, and at ‘We call it Flamenco’ six will be performed on the evening. Each one expressing a range of emotions, cantiñas, solea, bulería and more palos will dazzle inside a 15th-century church known for its rich history and excellent acoustics.
Inspired by traditional performances in cities like Seville, Jerez de la Frontera, Granada and Cordoba, this show immerses spectators in the enchantment of flamenco. Each palo brings its own charm to the evening, leaving audiences feeling nothing but duende — an indescribable emotion that only flamenco can kindle.
