As soon as restaurants are allowed to reopen Amsterdam will have a new (and pretty incredible sounding) restaurant and it’s not just the food that will attract people to this spot. If you live in Amsterdam then you’ll be familiar with the iconic REM Eiland. This 80-foot tower was once home to a pirate radio and TV station, and now it’s been transformed into REM Amsterdam, a restaurant with unbeatable views.
It’s been in the mix (pardon the pun) for a while now, with three floors of deliciousness promised. The first floor will be a fantastic area to enjoy some lunch, light dishes, and drinks. Then the second floor will be home to a restaurant, the menu of which is mouthwatering. Finally, at the very top of the tower, on a disused helipad, a rooftop bar is opening.
The rooftop bar boasts, amongst other things, homemade limoncello and the chance to dance to DJ sets. If you’re looking for a memorable experience in the city then look no further, because you’re sure to have an incredible time in the summer on that helipad.
Anyway, enough about that and on to the food (prepare to feel hungry). Chef Bobby Rust has worked in some incredible restaurants, including Bridges and Ron Gastrobar, and he certainly knows how to make delicious food. Vegetarians and vegans will be pleased to know that there’s plenty on the menu for non-meat-eaters, including a ‘beet wellington’.
Those who are partial to meat and fish will also enjoy the menu options. Diners can choose from delicious-sounding dishes such as oysters with corn, grapefruit, and sour, Thai tom yam. If you’ve never tried tom yam before then prepare for a mindblowing mix of Thai flavours.
Alternatively, if you’d like to try a few dishes you can opt for one of the set menus, including either 4, 5, or 6 dishes. There are meat, fish, and vegetable menus and an alternative vegetarian menu, too. The 4-course option will cost you €46, and then it’s €57 for 5 courses or €68 for 6. We can’t wait to see what they’ve done with the place, and you can book a table (once it’s open) and read the menu on the website.
