In Europe, it is estimated that around 1 in 100 people suffer from celiac disease, commonly known as gluten intolerance. Thus, 100,000 Dutch people could be affected by it! However, many cases go unreported… And at the same time, there is a real trend among non-intolerant people for the gluten-free diet, often associating it with a naturally healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Here are 5 delicious places that prove that gluten-free food can also be deliciously indulgent!
Our Favorite Gluten-free Spots in Amsterdam
Rose & Vanilla
This lovely pastry shop was opened by Daphne and Eric, whose children were lactose intolerant and allergic to gluten. So, the initial idea was just to spoil their kids with desserts they could eat, but it was so good, that Rose & Vanilla was born – and we are so grateful for that! Their cakes are delicious and creative, you will not leave without wanting to come back as soon as possible to try them all! They also serve soup, sandwiches and great teas, making it your next favorite lunch spot in the city.

They also have their own bakery, so you can indulge in delicious freshly baked gluten-free bread or pastries when you go. Try the cinnamon rolls, they are soooo good.

You can choose from a wide range of options, such as burgers, sandwiches, or toasts (try the Croque Madame, of course!). The peanut butter brownie will undoubtedly be your new favorite dessert!
