Amsterdam has a whole range of fascinating museums to visit, but perhaps less well-known is the KattenKabinet: a dream for cat lovers. It is entirely dedicated to cats and houses a large collection of paintings, drawings, sculptures, and other art forms. This includes works by Picasso and Rembrandt, as well as other famous artists throughout history.
The KattenKabinet was founded in memory of museum curator Bob Meijer’s cat. After the death of his beloved cat J.P. Morgan, Meijer began collecting all kinds of art and memorabilia featuring cat motifs. It wasn’t long before the collection grew into a museum, and he soon opened the ground floors of his 17th-century townhouse to cat lovers from all over the world.

This unique museum is truly a special place, with its opulent interiors and real cats roaming freely throughout the space.
KattenKabinet offers the opportunity to book a guided tour for up to eight people, which takes place before the museum opens to the general public. During the tour, you’ll learn even more about the history of this beautiful collection and can explore the space while almost no one else is around.

Tickets cost 10 euros per adult (student tickets cost 5 euros; children enter for free). You must reserve your tickets through the KattenKabinet website, as they are not available for purchase at the ticket counter.
