In Europe, an estimated 1 in 100 people suffer from celiac disease, better known as gluten intolerance. This means that as many as 100,000 Dutch people may be affected! However, many cases go undiagnosed… At the same time, there’s a real trend among people without an intolerance toward a gluten-free diet, which is often associated with a naturally healthy and balanced lifestyle. Here are 5 delicious spots that prove gluten-free food can also be deliciously indulgent!
Our favorite gluten-free spots in Amsterdam
Rose & Vanilla
This charming pastry shop was opened by Daphne and Eric, whose children were lactose-intolerant and allergic to gluten. So the original idea was simply to treat their children to desserts they could actually eat, but it was so delicious that Rose & Vanilla was born—and we’re very grateful for that! Their cakes are delicious and creative; you won’t leave here without wanting to come back as soon as possible to try them all! They also serve soup, sandwiches, and delicious tea, making it your new favorite lunch spot in the city. 📍Location: Eerste Constantijn Huygensstraat 74, 1054 BS Amsterdam
