It all began for former record label executive Eelko van Kooten with the construction of his own dream home. He lived there for years with Olcay Gulsen, but the newlyweds wanted to build a new home. Their new home was built a short distance away, after which the villa in Blaricum was put up for sale.
The transfer has now been completed. While Van Kooten and Gulsen are already settled into their new home, the buyers—a security products entrepreneur and his wife—are making the move from Almere to the “Golden Triangle.”
Nearly 1.8 million euros in profit

The financial foundation for the villa was laid in 2016, when Eelko van Kooten purchased the building lot for 1.58 million euros. A year later, he had the thatched-roof home built and took out 3.5 million euros in mortgages, 1.7 million of which were through his own company.
Earlier this year, the property went on the market for 5.75 million euros. After a price reduction to 5.48 million, the final sale was closed this month for 5,285,000 euros. If the former record label executive had fully utilized the mortgages, he would be left with a net profit of nearly 1.8 million euros.

Wellness area, wine cellar, and an underground office
Hidden behind the tall hedges and the automatic gate lies 545 square meters of living space. The heart of the home is the spacious custom kitchen with a cooking island and the adjacent living room featuring two cozy fireplaces. French doors lead to the covered veranda with patio heating, while the first floor is designed as a luxurious suite featuring a master bedroom, walk-in closet, and private fireplace.

The real surprise, however, is located one floor below. The 2.70-meter-high basement has ample natural light and houses a complete private wellness area with a sauna, steam room, and gym opening onto a patio. A custom wine cellar, a studio/office, and an Energy Label A round out this lot in the “Golden Triangle.”
