In 2021, Dirk Kuyt stepped into a run-down villa in Noordwijk, far from the cheering stands of Anfield and De Kuip. Where others saw a dated fixer-upper, the former striker saw a new beginning. For a year and a half, demolition and construction took place. The result? A multimillion-euro mansion that netted him over 1.3 million euros in profit upon sale.
A 420-square-meter estate

When Kuyt bought the house in 2021 for 1.57 million euros, he immediately gutted the building down to its shell. For eighteen months, the property on the Bollenstreek turned into a construction site, with just one goal: to turn it into a sleek, modern estate villa.
Inside, the home features thirteen rooms spread across three full floors. The finishes are nothing short of luxurious: think marble accents, herringbone floors with underfloor heating, six bedrooms, and a private TV room. A fully equipped fitness room and a sauna were also built in.
Outside, it’s all about privacy. Behind the house is a heated pool with a jacuzzi and a covered terrace with an outdoor kitchen, complete with a built-in Big Green Egg.
A profit of over 1.3 million euros

In hindsight, the substantial investment and lengthy construction turned out to be a bull’s-eye in the overheated Noordwijk housing market.
On October 21, 2024, the keys officially changed hands. The property sold for over 3 million euros, yielding Kuyt a gross profit of more than 1.3 million euros after deducting the original purchase price.
With the handover of the keys, the former soccer player is closing the door on his life in the dune region for good. A lucrative exit that shows his investment in the renovation has more than paid off.
